About Kirk Barron

Welcome to my online resume, portfolio and occasional playground. I am a sports reporter, photographer and videographer at Tri-County Newspapers based in Colusa, Calif. I worked on “UNION” a documentary about a small town high school football team in Northern California with Eder Diego and built a website for the team. I have experience as a web content producer, copy editor, sports reporter, general assignment news reporter and public relations for a minor league baseball team. I worked for three years as a web content producer for The Record in Stockton, Calif., after graduating from California State University, Chico, with bachelors of arts degrees in journalism and psychology.

As a web content producer I worked with reporters to develop in-depth packages online. I developed special sections on our website integrating web design, Flash and videos to tell a story. I have worked on projects covering a wide range of topics, including serial killers, immigration and hockey teams. The newspaper industry is going through many changes and as a web content producer I’ve used social media such as Cover it Live, Twitter and Facebook to interact with our audience. I have experience with many different content management systems including Drupal, WordPress and Saxotech.
